3MHK and The Green Earth joined forces to plant trees

3M seeks to create a better future for our planet, people, and economy. We back initiatives that foster sustainable communities. On 18 June, 3MHK Love & Care Volunteer Team organised “Tree Planting Day” with our green partner “The Green Earth” to help create higher ecological value for the woodlands in Hong Kong.

23 volunteers from 3MHK took the coaches from Tsuen Wan MTR Station to the drop-off point at Yuen Tun Country Trail, located in the Tai Lam Country Park. With sunshine and patchy clouds, the weather gave the activity a very pleasant start. Each volunteer hiked for about 30 minutes to the plantation site while carrying the shovel, the plantlets, and water for irrigation. Then, with the guidance and help of the staff from The Green Earth, they carefully dug holes in the soil, lowered the seedlings one by one, did gentle tamping, and poured water to help the plants grow.

This activity, with a total of 100 seedlings planted, is part of the Country Park Plantation Enrichment Programme launched in 2009. The government has been collaborating with various local green groups to plant native tree seedlings and carry out post-planting maintenance to increase the biodiversity in country parks.
