3MHK Love & Care Volunteer Team helps Food Angel to prepare hot meals

On 8 Aug afternoon, 22 members from the 3MHK Love & Care Volunteer Team assembled in Sham Shui Po for "A Day with Food Angel" to help prepare meal boxes for the underprivileged in the community.

The staff members of Food Angel welcomed the volunteers upon arrival, followed by a brief introduction of the organisation and the issues of food waste. Then, after donning such hygiene equipment as hoods, gloves and aprons, the volunteers started to prepare food ingredients and pack the meal boxes. 4200 eggs were broken and used, and over 1800 hot-meal boxes were ready. The team contributed a total of 115 service hours.

Food Angel is no new name to 3M Hong Kong. The company has supported the food rescue and assistance program by donating food and helping in the kitchens. With the mission of "Waste Not, Hunger Not, With Love", Food Angel currently rescues 45 tonnes of edible surplus food each week from major food establishments and sends it to its kitchens, producing over 17,000 nutritious meals and helping distribute over 11,000 other meals and food packs daily free of charge for people who need food assistance.
