3M was awarded the “Hong Kong Authorised Economic Operator” (“HKAEO”) Certificate (Tier 2) by The Hong Kong Customs & Excise Department (“C&ED”) again, with validity until the year 2021. The company is one of the eight local enterprises which successfully renewed their accredited membership under the programme this year.

About 140 guests attended the HKAEO Certificate Presentation Ceremony on 22 February, including consuls, foreign customs attachés, as well as representatives of various trade associations and private enterprises. Among them were 3M representatives – Ms Dianna Lui, Logistics Manager of Supply Chain Operations, Mr Calvin Liu, Manager of Distribution Centre and Ms Cynthia Lai, Manager of Corporate Marketing-Sales & Communications. Ms Dianna Lui also received the HKAEO Certificate presented by Mr Jimmy Tam, Assistant Commissioner of Customs and Excise (Excise and Strategic Support) on behalf of the company.

“Authorised Economic Operator” is a concept under SAFE Framework of Standards to Secure and Facilitate Global Trade of the World Customs Organization. It represents a customs-to-business partnership to enhance international supply chain security and facilitate movement of legitimate goods. The HKAEO Programme was implemented in 2012. Currently, 50 companies have been accredited as trusted partners of the C&ED to jointly secure the global supply chain and enjoy incentives including reduced or prioritised customs inspection. Hong Kong has ratified Mutual Recognition Arrangements with nine customs administrations of the Mainland, India, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, Australia and New Zealand; and those with Canada, Israel and Mexico will also be concluded soon.

Ms Dianna Lui, Logistics Manager of Supply Chain Operations, receives the HKAEO Certificate presented by Mr Jimmy Tam, Assistant Commissioner of Customs and Excise (Excise and Strategic Support).
