To celebrate 3M Global Volunteer Day, some 20 volunteers from 3M Hong Kong visited New Jade Manufacturing Centre of Richmond Fellowship of Hong Kong on Sep 14. The volunteers toured around the centre to understand the services and facilities provided. And, they made such fine handicrafts as leather coin purses, key chains and hair ties together with the service users to help them boost self-worth and confidence.
Terence Chan from 3M Information Security, Risk & Compliance Department said, “It’s a pleasure to know that 3M improves life not only by its products, but also by working with the community to help those in need. I am glad to be one of the volunteers.”
This integrated vocational rehabilitation service centre aims at enhancing the confidence and problem-solving skills of the ex-mentally ill through daily training, thereby preparing them for self-reliance and re-integrating into the community. By showing care to the service users, the visit of 3M volunteers helps build an inclusive and harmonious society.
