3M supports Food Angel by offering help at Harvest Mill

On 23 July, 12 volunteers from the 3MHK Love & Care Volunteer Team visited Harvest Mill – Food Angel’s Central Food Processing Centre at Kwun Tong. They helped to prepare food ingredients and more than 6600 meal boxes for the people in need. This marks the second time for 3M volunteers to assist in Food Angel’s food rescue and assistance program - the first one was in 2019.

With the goal of “Waste Not, Hunger Not, With Love”, Food Angel collects edible surplus food from major food establishments and set it to its kitchens. It prepares an average of 10,000 nutritious meals and 2000 food packs every day and then delivered them to the needy free of charge through its Charity Partners, including community centres, religious groups, centres for cage home dwellers, and special disability centres.

Recognizing the critical role of volunteers in building a sustainable and inclusive community, 3MHK Love & Care Volunteer Team was set up in 2021. Helping in Food Angel’s Harvest Mill is the fourth activity the Team organised this year. At 3M, we encourage all staff members to find a cause they feel passionate about and get involved to make a difference. Whether using the flexible work schedule to participate in a hands-on opportunity or dedicating more resources to a service program – our goal is to empower our staff to use their time and talent to improve lives.

In 3 hours, i.e., from 9:30am to 12:30 pm, the volunteers helped to prepare more than 6,600 meal boxes at Harvest Mill. They were a bit pressed for time.
