3MHK won Champion – Corporate Team in Day Run for Green Earth

On 26 January, over 30 3Mers and their families and friends joined “Day Run Night Walk” to promote “zero-waste” lifestyle in Hong Kong. All participants should bring their own bottles and cutlery and avoid using disposable utensils to support the low carbon green activity. As a “Star” Sponsor, 3M has been supporting this annual charitable event organised by Green Earth for two consecutive years.

A total of 4 groups were formed. One participated in the Day Run started at 10 a.m. to run 6.6km on Tai Mo Shan, the highest mountain in Hong Kong. 3M athletes completed the race in 41 minutes and 34 seconds, out-performing the rival by 9 seconds and won the Champion. The other three groups joined the Night Walk on Tai Mo Shan to enjoy the sunset and the starry sky after nightfall. Volunteer photographers took photos and created unique light-painting pictures for the participants. The star-gazing guides equipped with astronomic telescopes were stationed to help participants explore the beautiful night sky while discussing and rethinking the problem of light pollution and the impacts of over-consumption of energy. ‬‬‬

The event was regarded as a wonderful getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city, as well as an exceptional experience to learn to cherish the Earth and Nature.

Kit Leung (2nd from the right), Sales Manager of Health Care Business Group participated in the Day Run said, “It’s our honour to run the race on behalf of the company. We encouraged each other during the run and were overjoyed to scoop up the Champion medal surprisingly.”

Alice Leung, Marketing Manager of Separation and Purification Sciences Division participated in the Night Walk, said, “It’s a precious experience to walk on the mountain and watched stars with my family and friends for the purpose of supporting a greener earth. It’s such a meaningful event and we look forward to joining it again!”

Cynthia Lai, Corporate Marketing & Public Affairs Manager, received the appreciation certificate from Mr. Wong Kam-sing, GBS, JP, Secretary for the Environment and Dr. Frederick Lee, Chairperson of The Green Earth.
