As a science-based, diversified company, 3M use science and technology every day to improve lives and recognizes the importance of STEM (i.e. science, technology, engineering and mathematics) disciplines in solving some of the most pressing problems around the globe. It therefore is eager to sparkle students’ interest in STEM-related subjects and foster future scientists and researchers.
On 13 and 14 June, 3 afternoon visits were organized for 39 primary and secondary teachers. They toured around the 3M Customer Technical Centre in which various 3M technologies, capabilities and products that make life easier are showcased. Such innovative solutions, including whiteboard solutions, FTTH access, Safety-walk, tactile guide, Nomad matting systems, cleaning chemicals and tools, Post-it® meeting solution products, solar energy control window film and security film, were also demonstrated. Program to offer free samples and technical support to STEM education projects was introduced to teachers.
3M believes that supporting teachers to create more interactive learning opportunities by bringing daily live science application examples into classrooms is one of the most effective ways to generate enthusiasm for science among students.
