For the first time ever, 3M has fitted Tesla cars with its films for makeovers with the launch of the all-new "3M One-Stop EV-wrapping Value-Added Service". The vehicles are now on display until 11 December 2022 at the large-scale car show and carnival – International Motor Expo Hong Kong (IMXHK) 2022 and the IMX Outdoor Adventure 2022 – so that car owners and enthusiasts can get a glimpse of 3M innovative personalised film applications on electric vehicles ("EV"). The exterior of Model 3 and Model Y is transformed by the new 3M™ Paint Protection Film or the proprietary 3M™ Wrap Film Series 2080, alongside the high-performance 3M™ Automotive Window Films Crystalline Series, manifesting the ultimate flexibility of Tesla in accommodating individual preferences and showcasing the unlimited possibilities brought about by 3M. Adhering to the brand promise of "3M Science. Applied to Life. ™", the new service will infuse innovation and creativity into the electric car development.

New 3M™ Paint Protection Film: best invisible protection with unique self-healing function against stains and scratches

Equipped with unique self-healing technology, the new 3M™ Paint Protection Film provides a specially formulated clearcoat to protect against stains and scratches. Without affecting the lustre and appearance of the vehicle, minor scratches on the film can be easily removed by heat from a hot air gun. The film thus greatly reduces wear and tear from stones, bugs, asphalt, dirt, motor oil stains and even terrible weather. In addition, its superb adhesive strength allows easy application, repositioning and removal without leaving residue, giving optimum invisible protection to your beloved car.

3M™ Wrap Film Series 2080: incorporated proprietary technology for high conformability, allowing easy change of vehicle appearance without leaving residue

Developed with patented technologies, 3M™ Wrap Film Series 2080 is a set of durable, high-quality 3.5-mil double-cast films with excellent conformability and stretchability, allowing car owners or automotive professionals to express creativity and bring their visions to life. On one side of the film, adhesive with invisible air-release holes prevents air bubbles from forming during installation and increases conformability around corners and edges, while the glossy protective side helps reduce chips and scratches. The film is easy to install and remove without residue and damage to the paint, allowing frequent changing of vehicle appearance. Furthermore, the wide range of colours in store means the film is versatile and can be applied in various applications. In this collaboration with TESLA, we specially chose to install the matte metallic blue and satin aluminium white films, underscoring the car owners' remarkable personal taste and style.

Ground-breaking 3M™ Automotive Window Film Crystalline Series – Cut 99% UV rays and help go green with advanced nanotechnology

Thanks to our proprietary technologies, 3M™ Automotive Window Film Crystalline Series is a set of optical films thinner than a Post-It® note but containing 200 layers of nanotechnology film. The film reduces interior temperature and slashes air-conditioning costs and carbon footprint by effectively filtering out 55% of solar heat, 99% of harmful UV rays, and 97% of infrared rays. In addition, it reduces glare while maintaining a high level of light transmission and window clarity, eliminates the sight interference of traditional tinted glass, but not affecting mobile phones, GPS or satellite signals, allowing drivers and passengers to enjoy an even more comfortable, environmentally friendly, safe and stylish journey with a cost-effective solution.

The "3M One-Stop EV-Wrapping Value-Added Service" will commence in early 2023 at selected Tesla Service Centres in Hong Kong (details and pricing to be announced shortly). Model 3 and Model Y owners will enjoy the 3M™ Automotive Window Films Crystalline Series as part of the Value-Added Service programme and incorporate their individual style by choosing either 3M™ Paint Protection Film or 3M™ Wrap Film Series 2080.
