To support the charity night walk of the Green Earth, twenty 3Mers alongside their families and friend tramped 11km in Sai Kung on 13 January to helped promote a non-wasteful green lifestyle in Hong Kong.

The “Walk for the Green Earth 2018” was organized by the Green Earth, a local green organization. Participants were encouraged to bring their own bottles and utensils to reduce the single use items.

The green event started at 4pm. Some 700 participants walked the trail from Pak Tam Chung. At sunset, they reached the West Dam of High Island Reservoir one after another. The Starlight Guided Points were set up and interpreters and telescopes were stationed. The participants were welcomed to explore the night sky while discussing and rethinking the problem of light pollution and the impacts of overuse of energy. 

After nightfall, the group completed the walk by returning to the starting point through Man Yee Road. The event was regarded as a wonderful getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city, as well as an exceptional learning experience to reflect on the importance of preserving nature.
